Stop Wasting Gas on Small Balances
Moving a small balance can cost more in gas than the balance is worth. A few habits keep fees from eating your leftovers.

Why gas hurts small balances most
A network fee is charged per transaction, not per dollar. Paying $2 in gas to move $200 is a 1% cost; paying it to move $5 wipes out 40% of the value, and a bridge adds more steps on top.
Five habits that save money
- Decide the destination first. Know which network you want to consolidate on before you start moving anything.
- Batch balances. One planned route for several tokens spreads fixed costs better than many separate transfers.
- Prefer cheaper networks. Layer 2 networks and several side chains usually cost less than Ethereum mainnet, but check a live quote.
- Time it. Network fees move with demand, so compare quotes at different times instead of paying during a spike.
- Skip hopeless moves. If the quote shows you receiving close to nothing, leave the balance.
Keep a little native token for gas
You need the network’s native token to send any transaction there. If you bridge everything away, you may be unable to move the last token you hold on that network. Keep a small native-token balance on networks you still use.
Check the final amount, not the headline fee
A route that advertises a low fee can still deliver less because of price impact or destination costs. Compare routes by the amount you will receive on the destination network.
Frequently asked questions
What is the cheapest time to move crypto?
Fees vary with network demand, so there is no fixed answer. Compare live quotes and be willing to wait.
Why did my bridge cost more than the quote?
Quotes change quickly and may exclude a destination step. Review the minimum received amount before signing.
Can I avoid gas entirely?
Not on-chain. Every transaction needs a fee, so the aim is to avoid transactions that do not pay for themselves.
Dust Sweeper is a non-custodial tool: it reads your public address and every swap or bridge is a transaction you review and sign yourself. It never needs your seed phrase.
