Small Balances on Solana: What to Check: Arbitrum Perspective

Understand token accounts, small balances, and the differences between Solana and EVM wallets.

Why this matters on Arbitrum

Solana uses a different account model from EVM chains, so small balances can involve token accounts and rent considerations. Do not apply EVM assumptions directly to Solana.

Solana handles tokens through accounts rather than EVM-style contracts. If you also use Arbitrum, do not apply Solana assumptions there, or the reverse. Arbitrum is an Ethereum Layer 2 environment with its own balances and application ecosystem.

Arbitrum is part of the Ethereum scaling ecosystem. The same ticker can exist on Ethereum and on Arbitrum as separate token contracts, so a balance seen on one network cannot be assumed to exist, or to be redeemable at the same value, on the other.

Arbitrum: what to pay attention to

  • Assets and tokens: Confirm the Arbitrum token contract rather than assuming an identical ticker represents the same asset everywhere.
  • Costs: Compare L2 transaction costs with any bridge or liquidity costs required to reach the destination.
  • Security: Verify the network, contract and destination before signing cross-chain transactions.

A Arbitrum checklist for this topic

  • Re-check supported networks and tokens for any tool, since coverage changes over time.
  • Identify which token standard and address format Arbitrum actually uses before applying any guide.
  • Verify the exact token identifier on Arbitrum instead of trusting a shared ticker.
  • Confirm your wallet is connected to Arbitrum so balances are read from the right network.
The same idea can work differently on each network. Confirm the environment before applying a checklist.

Bridge from Arbitrum

Compare L2 transaction costs with any bridge or liquidity costs required to reach the destination. On the Base side: verify the token contract on Base and do not rely on ticker or logo alone.

The bridge guide below is informational; any transaction depends on current network conditions and the route shown in the bridge interface.
